The FDNY lost a total of 91 apparatus and vehicles on 9/11, with another 130 damaged. The ruined Ladder 3, its front shorn off, was chosen to be included in the 9/11 Memorial Museum. On July 20, 2011, the 60,000 pound truck, wrapped in plastic to protect it, and draped with US and FDNY flags was lowered by crane 70 feet underground into the museum.
