I came home from Firehouse World with a copy of “WTC In Their Own Words,” edited by Harvey Eisner, Editor-in-Chief of Firehouse Magazine. Once I started reading it, I almost had to stop my life until I finished. Harvey has collected stories from 92 firefighters who responded that day. I found it humbling and profound. It taught me so many things about these men I painted, and about the experiences of those who survived. I highly recommend it as a story of courage, determination, tragedy and sometimes inexplicable luck. Copies can be ordered through Firehouse.com/wtcbook, or a digital version through Amazon.
