His sense of humor earned Robert Evans the nickname of “Jerry Lewis” at Engine Company 33. This 36-year-old had been in the FDNY for 7 years on 9/11. His mother wrote that his parting words to everyone were always “If there’s anything I can do for you, please let me know.” Unfortunately his well-dimpled smile does not show up in his portrait.

There was a 9/11 Patriot Run scheduled today in Corpus Christi Texas, the bib I was assigned had ROBERT EVANS name, Engine 33, I was going to wear his name proudly, however, severe flooding prevented the Run, I researched his name, thanks Robert you’re our hero!
You were one of the funniest people we knew and never have I ever seen anyone climb that water tower by Rath park the way you did, omg – handball and laughter and kindness to others is what we will always remember about you, God Bless You and your family forever and a day and missing that beautiful smile, but we know you are smiling down on us from Heaven.
